CakeFest 2009

Organized by Graham Weldon

Huge Update!
What the hell has happened?

Over the last few days, a lot has happened. Some of the chipin based donators have requested to remain anonymous, which I totally respect. More of these anonymous donations have arrived, and have been processed external to the chipin feature I have been running.

The amount donated externally to chipin has been removed from the total initial value of $2000, and we're now sitting at $400 required, and $100 raised of that.

What does this mean? This means that through some creative budget fare shopping, I am going to make it to CakeFest! Huzzah!

Thank you to all the donators that have helped and offered their own contributions to assist. Every single donation has helped. The community support has been great with a lot of tweeting and blogging going on to help drive donations resulting in what is now a rush to get organised and off to Germany.

To help repay the community and contribute, you'll see me offering assistance to the CakePHP Core Team where I can to push development along, as well as some exciting public projects to help new and ongoing CakePHP developers learn techniques and strategies for development with CakePHP.

Keep you eyes peeled on http://grahamweldon.com for more information.

Any further donations made here will be put towards accommodation in Germany. Thanks again everyone!
Clarifying distribution of funds at endgame
Once, long ago, a chipin was run for a community gaming server that never really kicked off. The question arose at the completion of the fund raising time window regarding what happened to the funds. I'll address this now, as I start gathering donations, rather than at the end.

Should money be raised (and thanks to Martz, first donator) but not meet that required to fund the trip to Berlin, unless specifically requested for refund by individual contributors, the money raised will be donated to CakePHP on the starting date of the Berlin CakeFest 2009 on 9th July 2009.

I hope that clears things up for people.
Looking for help, CakeFest Berlin 2009
CakeFest 2009 is getting closer.
Living in Australia, remote from the rest of the world, means that airfares are expensive no matter where you are going.

To help get me to CakeFest Berlin 2009, I am calling for donations of any amount to assist in covering the airfare costs.
Accommodation and Incidental expenses will be handed on my own, but chipping away at the airfare cost will really help me get there.
